A student at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) will be arraigned in court for allegedly killing his roommate.

Josphat Nyambuga, a 23-year-old architecture student, was arrested on Tuesday after being linked to the death of his 21-year-old roommate identified as Arnold Otieno, a telecommunication engineering student.

Nyambuga is alleged to have bludgeoned the victim with a blunt object following a heated argument before Arnold collapsed and died.

Juja Sub-county police commander Phyllis Muthoni confirmed the incident and revealed that the suspect draped the deceased’s body in a bedsheet and continued living with him under the same roof until the case was reported.

“After we got the report on Monday at around 8 pm, we visited the scene and found the suspect in the same room, living with the body of the deceased,” Muthoni said.

Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to killing his roommate and according to his account, the argument stemmed from the deceased returning to the room drunk and disorderly.

The suspect was arrested and put in custody at Juja Police Station from where he helped police with the investigation while the deceased’s body was moved to General Kago Funeral Home in Thika.
