Law Society of Kenya (LSK) has urged Inspector General of Police Hilary Mutyambai to conducts a speedy and exhaustive probe into the mysterious death of lawyer Paul Gicheru.

In a statement following the tragic news, LSK said only a thorough investigation into Gicheru's death will unravel the exact cause of his death that has shocked Kenyans.

“We have been informed that the police visited the home and urge the Inspector General of the National Police Service to ensure that speedy and thorough investigations are conducted into the cause of his death,” said LSK in the statement.

LSK demanded answers given the death came as questions still lingered over the death or disappearance of many Kenyan witnesses at the International Criminal Court (ICC).

The legal society wished a quick recovery to Gicheru's son, Allan Njoroge, who was with him in the house when his body was found, remains admitted in hospital in critical condition.

The lawyer was charged with witness interference and bribery in a case at the Hague in which President William Ruto was accused of engineering the 2007-2008 post-poll chaos.

However, Gicheru had denied all of the eight charges of witness tampering that had been raised against him by ICC and was waiting for the court’s verdict before his sudden death.
