The Baringo County Deputy Governor Charles Kimaiyo Kipng’ok is dead.

King’ok is reported to have collapsed and died at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Wednesday evening while onboard a Kenya Airways flight en route to Mombasa after developing breathing complications.

According to the national carrier Kenya Airways (KQ), Kipng’ok developed breathing problems on the aircraft that was scheduled to depart from JKIA at 7 pm before medical personnel at the airport pronounced him dead shortly after.

“Kenya Airways PLC ("KQ"), regrets to announce that a passenger developed breathing difficulties this evening while boarding KQ612 that was scheduled to depart for Mombasa at 1900hours,” Kenya Airways said.

The aircraft was yet to depart from the JKIA to its destination in the coastal city of Mombasa.

“The passenger was pronounced dead by medical personnel at JKIA while the aircraft was still on ground.”

The unfortunate incident occurred when the deputy governor was headed to Mombasa for the governor's induction exercise.

KQ conveyed its deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased during the difficult time.

This is the third incident of death involving Kenya Airways within days of one another in less than a month.

Kipng’ok was Baringo Governor Benjamin Cheboi’s running mate in the recently concluded general election and they clinched the seat on a UDA ticket.
