The social media pages of State House and President William Ruto were changed immediately Ruto was sworn in at the filled Kasarani Stadium Stadium in Nairobi.

The digital platforms related to the Office of the President now reflect Ruto as Kenya’s fifth Head of State after the change of guard from President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration.

The bios on Dr Ruto’s Facebook and Twitter pages previously read “President-elect, Republic of Kenya” alongside his photo while receiving his clearance certificate from IEBC boss Wafula Chebukati on August 15.

After he was sworn in on Tuesday at around 12:50PM, they were switched to “President of The Republic of Kenya” and the profile photo of his portrait smiling in front of the Kenyan flag and a header photo of him taking the oath of office at Kasarani Stadium.

The State House pages that previously had a State House banner as profile pictures were replaced with a portrait of Ruto and header photo of him taking his oath on Tuesday.

The changes were followed by President Ruto’s initial post, a Bible verse signaling his entry.

“This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24,” read the post.

The State House website www.president.go.ke was cleared of all material relating to President Uhuru Kenyatta and replaced with a photo of Dr Ruto and his new yellow presidential standard with a wheelbarrow signifying his bottom up economic model.

President Ruto was sworn in by Judiciary Chief Registrar Anne Amadi at around 12:45PM in a ceremony witnessed by Chief Justice Martha Koome and Attorney General Paul Kihara.

This historic ceremony was followed by President Uhuru Kenyatta handing over the instruments of power, including a sword and a copy of the Constitution, to President Ruto.

During the elaborate ceremony at the 60,000-capacity Kasarani Stadium, President Ruto also received the Chief of the Order of the Golden Heart (CGH) award, the highest accolade given to citizens, mostly Heads of State, in Kenya.
