Dr William Ruto now takes office as the fifth president of the Republic of Kenya following his swearing in ceremony conducted at Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi on Tuesday, September 13.
Dr Ruto, who was flanked by his wife Rachel Ruto, took his oath of office some minutes to 1pm in a process administered by Judiciary Chief Registrar Anne Amadi.
Rigathi Gachagua followed suit and also took his oath of office as the Deputy President and he was flanked by Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, even as a small hitch saw him take the oath again.

Ministry of Interior said more than 60,000 people thronged the venue, including 20 Heads of State and other dignitaries representing various countries and international bodies.
After taking their oaths of office, outgoing President Uhuru Kenyatta handed over the instruments of power, including a sword and a copy of the constitution, to Dr Ruto.
A cheerful Kenyatta could be seen giving a few words of advice to President Ruto as he handed over the instruments to the amazement of the thousands of supporters at Kasarani.

This was followed by a 21-gun salute welcoming a new Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces and signaling the end of Uhuru's tenure in the colourful ceremony that concluded by 2pm as legally stipulated.
