According to Jean-Pierre, Biden congratulated Ruto on his election as the president of Kenya.

“We congratulate William Ruto on his election as president of Kenya,” Jean-Pierre said.

The US president also lauded the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya leader Raila Odinga for accepting and abiding by the Supreme Court’s ruling that upheld Ruto’s election.

“We commend Raila Odinga for abiding by the Supreme Court’s ruling,” she added.

Jean Pierre also said the US Government has congratulated Kenyans for concluding the electoral process peacefully.

She further said the US Government was looking forward to working with Ruto and his new government.

“The United States and Kenya share a strong and longstanding partnership based on a commitment to democracy, security, and economic prosperity. We look forward to enhancing this partnership with President Ruto and his new government,” Jean-Pierre said.

This comes as an affirmation of the US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken’s earlier statement issued on Monday with the same message.
