Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary-General Francis Atwoli has on behalf of the union had congratulated President-elect William Ruto following the Supreme Court's ruling that upheld Ruto's election.

Atwoli shared the congratulatory message on his Twitter account on Monday shortly after the court made the ruling.

According to Atwoli, COTU Executive Board ina meeting held on August 17, 2022 resolved to congratulate Ruto immediately after the the Supreme Court's ruling.

"During COTU (K) Executive Board meeting on 17th August, we resolved THAT immediately after the Supreme Court judgement, we must thank and congratulate the victor," Atwoli said.

While congratulating Ruto, Atwoli urged Kenyan's to maintain peace.

"Consequently, we congratulate President William Ruto. We appeal to workers and Kenyans in general to remain peaceful," Atwoli said.

The COTU boss who has been one of the strongest critics of the president-elect seemed to have eaten his humble pie and will now have to work together with the incoming president.
