President-Elect William Ruto has assured his supporters that he will respect the decision that will be issued by the Supreme Court on the presidential petition challenging his win.

Speaking in Nakuru on Sunday, Ruto appealed to his supporters and other Kenyans to remain calm as they await the judgment of the seven judges of the Supreme Court.

“Tomorrow, the Supreme Court will deliver its judgment on the Presidential election petition. Because we are a country that adheres to the law, we will equally respect the decision of the court. That is how we will be able to have an all-inclusive country. There is no bigger or lesser Kenyans, all Kenyans are equal before the law,” said Ruto.

The UDA party leader intimated that it was the duty of all Kenyans across the political divide to respect the rule of law for the country to move forward after the long-awaited decision.

“There is no other way of pushing Kenya forward, there is no other way of achieving economic prosperity. It is only through observing the rule of law and this will begin from me and all other leaders,” he added.

Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga filed the main petition against Ruto’s victory accusing IEBC and its boss Wafula Chebukati of altering the tally to favour Ruto.

The seven-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Martha Koome terminated hearings on the consolidated petition on Friday and they are set to announce their decision on Monday.
