The Kenya Power and Lighting Company has issued a notice alerting its customers of the only authorised channels of payment of postpaid and prepaid subscriptions.

According to the notice issued on Tuesday, Kenya Power has listed all the authorised Paybill numbers for purposes of payment of electricity tokens on payment of bills starting Thursday.

“We wish to inform our prepaid and postpaid customers that, effective Thursday, 1st September 2022, the purchase of prepaid tokens and payment of postpaid bills will ONLY be made through the following authorised channels,” the notice read.

The following are the authorised paybill numbers listed on the KPLC notice:

Postpaid Channels (Bills)

•Authorised banks (https://kplc.co.ke/content/item/30)

They have also advised their customers to access the same services through KPLC banking halls countrywide.

Customers can also purchase tokens or pay their bills via USSD code *977#.

This means that all the third-party agents offering the services on behalf of KPLC have been edged out of the business.

The company has also issued a disclaimer absolving itself of any liabilities for any transactions performed outside its platform.

"Please note that no other third-party agent is authorised to offer these services on behalf of KPLC. The Company will therefore not take liability for any transaction conducted through any other platform," the notice cautioned.
