The Inspector General of Police Hilary Mutyambai has announced that he will be out of office for an unspecified period.

Mutyambai announced his absence from office through a statement he issued on Friday.


According to the statement, the police IG will be out of the office to attend to a medical checkup starting Friday.

"This is to inform the general public that I will be away from office attending to a medical checkup effective today. 26th August 2022," the statement read.

The IG also informed the public that Deputy IG Noor Gabow will act in his capacity until he resumes duty.

"In my absence, Mr. Noor Gabow, the Deputy Inspector General - Administration Police Service, will act as the Inspector General of the National Police Service until my return," Muytambai said.

However, in his statement, Mutyambai did not disclose the nature of the medical checkup he was scheduled for nor did he tell how long he will be away.
