President-elect William Ruto has submitted a list of three individuals to the transition committee that will ensure a smooth handover of power from the outgoing President Uhuru Kenyatta to Ruto.
The three-member list of representatives includes National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi, Uasin Gishu Woman Representative Gladys Boss Shollei, and United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party Secretary General Veronica Maina.
The trio will represent Ruto and push his agenda in the 20-member committee ahead of his swearing-in, pending the petition that the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition is intent on filing at the Supreme Court.
Uhuru’s government prepared for the official handing over of power to the next government.
The head of Public Service, Joseph Kinyua, chaired the inaugural meeting of the Assumption of Office of the President Committee on August 13, 2022.
The committee intimated it was ready to oversee a smooth transition.
