The Jubilee Party Secretary-General Jeremiah Kioni has appealed to politicians allied to the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition to stay in the fold and avoid decamping to other parties lest they lose their elected seats.

Kioni was speaking in Nakuru after meeting the Jubilee Party elected leaders on Thursday.

The Secretary-General said those individuals making such moves are void of leadership qualities.

He reiterated they had a coalition agreement before the election, which they would want to stick to over the next five years.

“Any member of the Jubilee Party exhibiting wayward behaviour and planning to switch from one party to another should know that they risk losing their seats. Remember, we had a pre-election coalition agreement which we would want to remain faithful to for the next five years,” Kioni said.

Kioni also said moving from one party to another is reason enough for a voter to challenge their tenure in office and also claimed defection does not have any effect on the house majorities.

In the same breath, Kioni also advised leaders elected on independent tickets to remain neutral and avoid showing allegiances to any parties as they also stand to lose their seats.

Kioni was speaking against the backdrop of defections by leaders from the UDM Party, which was an Azimio coalition affiliate party to the Kenya Kwanza Alliance.
