The Vice Chairperson of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Juliana Cherera has denounced all social media handles bearing her name and images.

Cherera now says she is not on any social media platform.

This follows the emergence of several social media accounts bearing her name and images and sharing information about what transpired in the IEBC.

She told a local media house that she does not have any social media presence and has reported all the pseudo accounts to the relevant authorities.

“I am not on social media. All those Facebook/Twitter accounts are fake and I have reported them to the relevant organizations/authorities,” Cherera said.

Kenya’s attention was drawn to Cherera after she led a team of three other IEBC commissioners in disowning the presidential election results, as was announced by the commissions chair Wafula Chebukati on Monday.

According to the four dissenting commissioners claim, they were denied access to the backend where the tallying was being done.

Cherera insisted that, despite the commission conducting the August 9 election properly, Chebukati did the final tallies in an “opaque” manner, hence their decision to disown them.
