The family of Brian Olunga, Brian Khaemba’s aide who was shot dead during a scuffle that involved the Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa on Tuesday at Chekwabi Primary School polling station has appealed to the police to hasten the probe into their kin’s killing.
Speaking at his Simitsi Village home in Malava, Kakamega County, Brian’s father Tobias Olunga urged the authorities to ensure no stone remained unturned during the investigation into the incident.
Mzee Olunga fondly remembered his son as an industrious young man; his demise is a tremendous loss to the family.
On Tuesday, an altercation ensued at the Chebukhwabi Primary School polling station, Barasa’s opponent from the DAP-K party Brian Khaemba visited the polling station at about 6:00 pm to witness the vote counting exercise.
Khaemba met Barasa while inside the polling station and intended to leave shortly after arriving.

However, when Khaemba headed to his vehicle, Barasa who was in the company of four men, followed him before ordering his men not to allow Khaemba to leave the place. Khaemba’s driver defied Barasa’s order and started the vehicle instead.
It is not clear why Barasa did not want Khaemba to leave, but he immediately discharged his weapon and shot Khaemba’s aide identified as Brian Olunga in the head.
Olunga was rushed to Kimilili Sub-county Hospital for emergency treatment, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injury.
