The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has given Kimilili MP-elect Didmus Barasa a six-hour ultimatum to report to the nearest police station.

This follows the brutal murder of his opponent Brian Khaemba’s aide Brian Olunga who got shot during an altercation that involved Barasa on Tuesday at Chebukhwabi Primary School polling station in Kimilili Constituency.

According to the DCI, a special team comprising detectives from the Crime Research & Intelligence Bureau and the Homicide Department has been deployed to assist the team which was already on the ground conducting a manhunt for the fugitive MP.

"A specialized team of sleuths based from the elite Crime Research & Intelligence Bureau and the Homicide department has been dispatched to augment the teams on the ground for his manhunt," the DCI said.

The DCI has warned that they will take stern action against anybody found to be harbouring Barasa who is now being considered a murder suspect.

"Serious action will be taken against any person/s found to be harbouring the murder suspect," the DCI said.

It has been over 24 hours since Barasa went into hiding with some sources claiming he was seen crossing the Kenya-Uganda border on a motorbike.

He has also been updating his social media accounts from undisclosed locations.
