President Uhuru Kenyatta has officially commissioned the Nairobi Eastern Bypass.

The 27.8-kilometre road was expanded from a single 2-lane road to a dual carriageway at a cost of Sh12.5 billion.

It connects Mombasa Road to Thika Superhighway at Kamakis, traversing through Embakasi, Utawala, Ruai town and Ruiru town.

Transport CS James Macharia accompanied the president to the ceremony.

The expansion was done as part of the government's efforts to decongest Nairobi, which experiences a lot of traffic jams.
