The Nairobi Expressway has been closed until it is officially commissioned.

Moja Expressway Company, the company in charge of managing the Nairobi Expressway, announced the closure through a notice after the trial period of the road was over.

“The trial period for the Nairobi Expressway, which commenced on 14th May 2022, has come to an end. The road will now be closed from 9 pm this Saturday, July 30th 2022, until it is officially commissioned,” the notice read.

According to Moja Expressway Company, the commissioning will mark a monumental achievement which has given Nairobi a new face.

The company apologised to motorists and members of the public that the closure of the Nairobi Expressway will affect.

“Moja Expressway Company Ltd regrets any inconvenience caused and motorists will be advised upon resumption of service on the Expressway,” Moja Expressway Company said.

The 27-kilometre Nairobi Expressway was open to the public on May 14, 2022, on a trial basis.

So far, motorists who have used the road have expressed their satisfaction with its efficiency.
