National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has suspended the entire fleet of commuter buses operated by Modern Coast following the Nithi Bridge accident that killed 33 people.

NTSA, in a statement released on Monday, said it had halted the operations of a total of 31 buses operated by Modern Coast Express Limited operating on various routes across Kenya.

The Authority’s Director General George Njao revealed that a multi-agency team is investigating the crash and evaluating the bus operator’s safety operational standards.

This comes hours after a Modern Coast PSV bus lost control and rammed the Nithi Bridge before plunging down 40 metres into the river killing 33 and seriously maiming 10 others.
