Police have arrested a woman for burning her children’s hands in Athi River, Machakos County.

The area chief, Josphat Musinga, confirmed the sad incident.

According to Musinga, the woman burnt the hands of her 6-year-old and 8-year-old children as retribution for licking sugar.

She used a hot knife and molten nylon paper to burn the hands of the minors.

Musinga said the authorities visited the two victims of the heinous act in school after they received information about the incident.

"We visited the children in school after receiving a report about the incident. We then took them to Athi River Hospital for treatment," Musinga said.

Police apprehended the suspect and booked her at Athi River Police Station where she spent Wednesday night waiting for the probe into the matter to be complete before being arraigned in court.
