Azimio la Umoja presidential running mate Martha Karua has said she is not hungry for billions.

Karua said that during the deputy presidential candidate’s debate on Tuesday.

The former Gichugu MP was responding to a query by Sophia Wanuna who was the moderator that wanted her to disclose how much she is worth.

Karua said she is worth Sh150 million, noting now because of the inflation since the last time she declared her wealth in 2013.

“I think about just about 150 million and that is because the 56 million I had declared in 2013, has appreciated because of the inflation,” Karua said.

The former Justice and Constitutional Affairs minister said she is contented with the little she has and has no appetite for worldly possessions such as land.

“I haven't had any new properties but I’m a person many may not understand I’m not thirsty for land, I’m not thirsty for worldly goods, I’m happy to have a house I call home, I’m happy to have a house in my father's land, I do not look for property,” Karua said.

She emphasised she was not focused on amassing wealth nor was she hungry for billions but was hungry to help Kenya and to transform the lives of Kenyans.

“Not everybody is hungry to amass I’m hungry to do something to help my country to transform the lives of the people all right so if you're looking for Martha Karua to be a billionaire no I am not hungry for billions,” she emphasised.
