Kenya Kwana Alliance presidential flag bearer William Ruto congratulated his running mate Rigathi Gachagua for his participation during the deputy presidential candidate's debate.

The debate was held on Tuesday at the Catholic University of East Africa (CUEA).

Gachagua faced it off with Azimio la Umoja's presidential running mate Martha Karua on the first tier of the debate. 

Ruto took to his social media accounts to laud his running mate, terming him as an able running mate.

The deputy president also said Gachagua is a seasoned, passionate and focused leader who will in steering Kenya Kwanza to victory and prosperity.

"Congratulations Rigathi Gachagua my very able running mate. Kenyans are confident that in you we have a seasoned, passionate and focused leader to help us steer Kenya kwanza to victory and the nation to prosperity," Ruto said.

While at it, Ruto asked Gachagua not to mind the media, apparently without which, the debate would not have taken place.

"God na ubarikiwe saaan. Never mind the media," he added.

Ruto will debate with his political rival in the Azimio coalition Raila Odinga on Tuesday in a much-anticipated event at the same venue.
