Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga would beat his UDA rival, Deputy President William Ruto, in four of five counties, if the general election was to be held today.

According to the latest opinion poll resealed on Thursday by TIFA, Raila would trounce DP Ruto in the counties of Kisii, Nyamira, Isiolo, Trans Nzoia and Nyamira if polls are held today.

In Isiolo, Raila’s popularity stands at 61 per cent in Kisii, 50 per cent in Isiolo, 52 per cent in Trans Nzoia and Nyamira at 58 per cent.

The opinion poll, which was released by TIFA on Thursday, shows that Ruto will only trounce Raila in Murang'a County with 62 per cent against 18 per cent.

The poll by TIFA also showed that the popularity of the DP stood at 42 per cent in Isiolo, 20 per cent in Kisii, Nyamira at 26 per cent and Trans Nzoia 34 per cent.

The sensational presidential candidate George Wajackoyah of the Roots Party emerged third in Isiolo, Kisii, Trans Nzoia and Murang'a Counties.

The pollster says the opinion poll was done on July 5 - 7 in Isiolo, Kisii and Nyamira, while data was collected from Murang'a in June 25 and 26 and in Trans Nzoia June 28 and 29.

In Murang'a a sample of 407 voters were interviewed with a margin error of +/-4.9 per cent and in Isiolo, 435 registered voters were sampled with a margin error of +/- 4.7 per cent.

A total of 516 voters took part in Kisii with a margin error of +/- 4.3 per cent, in Nyamira 626 respondents were polled with a +/- 3.0 per cent margin of error and 416 polled in Trans Nzoia, with the interviews being done via phone.
