Jubilee party Mathare parliamentary aspirant Kevin Kioko alias Bahati has denounced ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna’s remarks alleging he stepped down from the race in favour of ODM aspirant Anthony Aluoch.

Bahati took to his social media account to dismiss the remarks made by Sifuna on Sunday during a joint ODM-Jubilee delegates meeting that resolved Aluoch would fly the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition flag in the Mathare contest.


Bahati warned Sifuna to stay away from Mathare politics and focus on his own campaigns or face defeat.

“Edwin Sifuna, you have already been bribed with ‘three hundred’ by my losing opponent to lie that I have stepped down and “you” will offer me a job in the AZIMIO government??? In what capacity will you offer me job..? Stay far away from Mathare politics, focus on your side otherwise you will be trounced again line in 2017,” Bahati tweeted.

Bahati asked Azimio to stop misleading the voters of Mathare because he had not stepped down for anyone and asked his supporters to ignore the information shared by Sifuna, terming them as propaganda. 


At the same time, Bahati scheduled a presser for Monday afternoon at 2:00 pm.

“IGNORE THE PROPAGANDA!!! I WILL BE ADDRESSING THE PRESS AT 2PM!!!” Bahati said.

Bahati’s short political journey into the Mathare parliamentary seat is one that has been dogged by difficulties.

The first hurdle he face was in April when the musician-cum-politician broke down and wept profusely during an emotional presser alleging the Jubilee Party had called him intending to recall his nomination to vie for the Mathare parliamentary seat.


He pleaded with the party amid sobs to give the youth, like him, a chance to seek political office in the country and the people of Mathare to elect their most preferred candidate.

On May 13, 2022, the Jubilee Party handed Bahati the ticket to contest in the Mathare parliamentary race.
