Two suspects are already in police custody in connection to the chilling robbery incident caught on CCTV cameras at a home in Ongata Rongai.

According to preliminary investigations, a former law enforcement officer who turned rogue led the team that terrorised the woman in the viral footage.

The incident attracted the attention of the Interior CS Fred Matiang’i, the Inspector General of Police Hilary Mutyambai and the Head of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Special Service Unit (SSU) Pius Gitari who visited the scene.

The high-profile security team that was on a fact-finding mission on security matters in the area assured the residents of the area that necessary action will be taken.

During the visit to the area, Matiang’i ordered the immediate construction of the Kandisi Police Post for later upgrade into a police station.

Matiang’i also ordered that all criminal activities reported in the Occurrence Book (OB) be compiled and forwarded to his office by Tuesday so as to get a clear picture of the area’s security situation.

He urged the locals with any information about the robbery to come forth and share the information with the police.


In a security brief to police, the officers were to ensure that no entertainment or restaurants operate in the area between Kandisi and Rimpa stage.

"Entertainment joints and restaurants should not operate in between Kandisi and Rimpa stage as it's the purely residential area hosting various senior government officials," the brief read.

A special team of sleuths from the SSU have been deployed to the area and Gitari who is a Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) will oversee the security operations in the area. The SSU team will work in tandem with the local security personnel.

Another special team will also be deployed to the scene to analyse the CCTV footage 

Sleuths have profiled about four suspects and have launched their manhunt.
