Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition presidential candidate Raila Odinga has pledged that his administration will lower the prices of basic household commodities.


Raila said such household commodities as flour, cooking oil and paraffin will be reduced to bearable standards if he is elected president in the August elections.

Raila said that on Sunday while on a political tour in Masina, Machakos County when he promised to lower the prices of those household items that have been hiked in the recent past.

“Flour prices will go down, even cooking oil and paraffin, we must bring it down. We have resolved to make the cost of living bearable for Kenyans. People have suffered enough,” Raila said.


Raila also said under his administration, no children will go without food because their families will benefit from his Social Protection program that will see every household receive a Sh6000 monthly stipend.

The former prime minister said the social protection program is viable and listed the countries in which it has worked.

“Cases of children going without food will be unheard of again. Under the social protection program, these families will get money from the government. It has worked well in America, Europe, Brazil, India, Egypt and even Namibia,” Raila said.


Raila flanked by Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and other leaders from the Kamba community earlier joined other faithfuls for a mass at the Masinga Catholic Church.
