Kenya Kwanza Alliance has asked media houses to deploy an all-women crew to cover their Women Conference scheduled for Friday at the Nyayo Stadium, Nairobi.


The UDA Communications Director Wanjohi Githae sent the media invite with the specific request.

According to the Deputy President William Ruto-led alliance, the move is meant to celebrate the women in the roles they play in various sectors.

"We encourage your Media House/Online News Blog to deploy an all Women Crew as we seek to celebrate and highlight the important role played by Women in all sectors," the invite read.

During the same event, the signing of the Kenya Kwanza Women Charter will also take place.

The event comes just a few days after the party launched UDA Women’s League on Sunday.


Kenya Kwanza has been on a mission to consolidate votes from women since their Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition picked a woman, Martha Karua to deputise the flag bearer, Raila Odinga.

Ruto said his party is looking forward to the support of women to win the August election when the UDA Women’s League was launched.
