Roots Party presidential candidate George Wajackoyah has said his administration will invest in the lucrative snake market and use the proceeds to settle the Chinese government debt that is bedevilling the Kenyan Government.

Wajackoyah said that on Wednesday while speaking during an interview in a local TV station where the ardent marijuana crusader also said there was a ready market for the reptilian products globally.


He said the country can invest in the snake anti-venom market by rearing snakes and extracting their venom to be used in developing anti-venoms, which will then be exported.

Wajackoyah noted that many people have been victims of snake bites but have to wait for supplies of the anti-venom from foreign countries.

"We will introduce snake farming so that we can actually extract snake poison for purposes of medication. A lot of people are bitten by snakes in this country and we have to wait for snake doses from outside the country from pharmaceutical organisations," Wajackoyah said.


Apart from trading in snake anti-venom, Wajackoyah also said Kenyans can reap maximum profits from the reptiles because snakes can fetch handsome amounts in the meat market abroad.

Wajackoyah opined that after venom is drawn from the snakes, they can then be sent to foreign countries where will be sold for their meat.


"We have so many snakes in this country and we have so many snake eaters. One of the ways we are going to offset debt is by taking these snakes, extracting poison from them and manufacturing them into anti-venom and shipping the reptiles to other countries where they are consumed," Wajackoyah said.


The controversial professor has previously said he will legalise marijuana for medicinal purposes if he becomes president.
