Police in Nakuru are holding a man for stabbing his younger brother to death over a family feud that turned tragic.

According to witness reports, the 28-year-old suspect identified as Abdul Irungu Jaffar stabbed was engaged in a heated argument with his younger brother 26-year-old Rashid Kimani Karanja. Their 37-year-old brother tried to separate the two, but his efforts were futile.

The argument escalated, prompting Jaffar to reach for a knife and stab Karanja in the abdomen before fleeing.

Their elder brother rushed Karanja to the hospital where he was immediately admitted albeit in critical condition.

Their mother learnt about the incident and tried to have the matter resolved at the family level without involving the authorities.

Unfortunately, nature had other plans and Karanja succumbed to his injury on Madaraka Day while undergoing treatment.

Upon Karanja’s demise, police immediately launched a manhunt for his brother Jafar leading to his arrest.

He was held at the Bondeni Police Station in Nakuru pending investigations.

Karanja is facing a murder charge contrary to Section 203, as read with Section 204 of the Penal Code.
