Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition presidential candidate Raila Odinga will win the August election in the first round.

That is according to the Interior PS Karanja Kibicho who also said Raila will win by 60 per cent.

The PS was speaking during an interview at one local TV station on Tuesday.

Kibicho said data from the National Intelligence Service informed his assertions.

He quoted the ICT CS Joe Mucheru who said the intelligence data show that there will not be a need for a runoff because Raila will win in the first round with 60 per cent.

"You were told here by CS Mucheru, the intelligence data is saying that it's a 60 per cent win in the first round," Kibicho said.

Kibicho emphasised they speak from facts based on data which does not lean on any side and he is responsible for providing Kenyans with information about the ongoing political developments.

The PS also said they have a civic duty to educate people, which is their right and noted the difference between campaigning and being part of the civic education process.

"We don't speak from emotions ourselves we speak from facts. If you ask me what the data is saying today I will give you as it is and if you think it is misleading tell me what data you have and from where that it says otherwise," Kibicho said.

“There is a very big difference between campaigning and getting involved in the civic education of our people and this is a right that we will not accept to be removed from us because we are duty-bound to go and give civic education to our people.”

During the interview, Kibicho denied having links to the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition, saying reports linking him to the faction are untrue.

Kibicho added he would attend a Kenya Kwanza Alliance political event if he was invited.

"There is nothing wrong with civil servants attending meetings organized by Azimio la Umoja Coalition. I am willing to attend meetings organised by Kenya Kwanza Alliance if they invite me to talk about election preparedness or any other government polity within my docket," he said.
