Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi announced on Monday that he had lost his mother, Mama Hannah Atsianzale Mudavadi.

In a statement, Mudavadi said the family matriarch passed on at around 5am on Monday while being treated at the Nairobi Hospital at the age of 92.

“On behalf of the entire Mudavadi family, I wish to announce that our family Matriarch, Mama Hannah Atsianzale Mudavadi, has gone to be with the Lord. She rested at 5.00am today at the Nairobi Hospital. She was 92 years old,” Mudavadi posted on Twitter.

He added, “As a family, we are devastated by this loss but are bearing it with grace. Please remember us in your prayers. The Lord gives and the Lord takes. May our dear Mum’s soul RIP,” he added.

The Mudavadis did not, however, reveal what ailed Mama Mudavadi, who was the widow of the late Cabinet Minister Moses Mudamba Mudavadi.

Among those who have mourned Mrs Mudavadi is President Uhuru Kenyatta, who remembered her as a “devoted, generous and humble matriarch who raised a close-knit family and contributed immensely to the progress of her community.”
