The 6 individuals have been accused of stoning Karua’s convoy in Kerugoya and Kigumo during Karua’s homecoming visit.

The Kirinyaga Central Deputy Police Commissioner Daniel Ndege confirmed the arrest of the 6 individuals.

Ndege revealed other politicians paid the 6 to disrupt the meetings by throwing stones from the crowd and heckling speakers.

"The other day there were some people who tried to disrupt law and order. When one of the leaders was coming home, there were some people who were hired by some leaders to hurl stones and shout down the leader," Ndege said.

Ndege also confirmed the 6 rowdy youth were arraigned in court for their crimes.

"As we are talking, there are six boys who have been arrested and arraigned in court for disrupting peace and causing hooliganism," he said.

Ndege urged parents to advise their children against such unlawful activities and warned that anyone who will violate the law will face the full force of the law.

"I am urging parents to inform their children that government cannot be dared. Let that chaotic incident witnessed be the first and the last. Whoever will try doing so will find a new residence in jail," the commissioner said.

He also warned a section of politicians who misuse the youth to cause chaos in their opponents’ political gatherings and appealed for political tolerance as the country is headed towards the August election.

This comes a few days after the Interior Permanent Secretary Karanja Kibicho instructed police officers in the entire country to crackdown on hired goons being used by rogue politicians to disrupt political functions.

The PS noted investigations placed two local politicians in the middle of the chaos allegedly for hiring goons to disrupt their rival’s political functions.

Kibicho appealed to government administrators to work together with the National Police Service (NPS) to single out and bring such hooligans to book.
