Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga has pledged to set up a factory in each of the 47 counties if he becomes president.


Raila said that when he was speaking to members of the public at Ahero in Kisumu county on Tuesday where he said the move will boost agriculture and commerce.

He also said if he becomes president, his administration will establish 3 processing zones in Kisumu, Mombasa and Lamu to create employment for the youth.

“We want to set up factories in each county…in line with Vision 2030, we will establish 3 new export processing zones, one in Mombasa, Lamu and Kisumu...so that our young people get employed,” he stated.

Raila said his administration will increase county revenue allocation from 15 per cent to 35 per cent.

The former premier also promised the Ahero locals that he will revive the Ahero Rice Irrigation Scheme project.

He advised people to invest in agriculture because there would be a ready market for agricultural produce.

“We want people to invest in smart agriculture. There will be a ready market so that farmers benefit from agricultural produce,” Raila said.


Raila also revealed there is an investor who is ready to help set up a special economic zone in Miwani.

“We want to set up a special economic zone in Miwani…we have already secured an investor who is willing to develop the area,” Raila said.

His tour to Kisumu came a day after unveiling his running mate Martha Karua whom he lauded as a leader of integrity.
