Raila Odinga’s ODM party has responded to the Kenyan Afro-pop music group known as Sauti Sol blast for using their song at Raila Odinga's event.

ODM was responding to Sauti Sol’s accusation against Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance for using their song without their consent during the announcement of Azimio's presidential running mate.

ODM took to its Twitter account to express its love and appreciation for Sauti Sol and their music.

"We would like to assure our celebrated musical team, Sauti Sol, that we love them and appreciate their music so much," ODM wrote.

ODM further noted that the group has placed Kenya on the world musical map and explained that in playing their song on Monday, they were merely showing their love for Sauti Sol’s work.

"The group has carried our country’s flag so high in international fora and every Kenyan appreciates this. Playing their song yesterday was a show of love for their work," ODM said.

In their statement, Sauti Sol said the group is not inclined towards any political outfit and emphasised they were fully apolitical.

“We would like to make it very clear to our fans, partners and associates, we are not aligned to nor associated with the Azimio La Umoja Campaign or any other Political Movement and/or Party, their Presidential aspirants, Vice Presidential aspirants and candidates at large. We are fully apolitical,” Sauti Sol said.

This comes even after The Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Raila Odinga has paid a sum of Sh562,500 to the Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) as license fees for pieces of music that will be used during his campaigns.
