Police are looking for a teacher who viciously attacked his estranged wife with a hammer and knife on Wednesday night before fleeing the scene and leaving her for dead.

Preliminary investigations revealed the suspect identified as James Kimeu aged 35 and the victim identified as Caren Namubuya 29, had parted ways before the grisly incident.

Kimeu, a teacher at Menzamwenye Primary School, lured Namubuya into his house with a reconciliation pretence and little did she know that an ambush was waiting for her once she entered the house.

Once Namubuya entered the house, Kimeu locked the main door with a padlock and descended on Namubuya with a hammer and kitchen knife, savagely hitting her on the head and stabbing her in the chest.

The commotion attracted the attention of neighbours who had no option but to force their way into the house to rescue Namubuya whom they found lying unconscious in a pool of her own blood.

In the melee, Kimeu saw an opening and escaped before the neighbours could apprehend him.

The neighbours rushed Namubuya to Lunga Lunga Sub-county Hospital where she received treatment and the doctors said she was in a stable condition.

Detectives launched a manhunt for Kimeu and are appealing to members of the public to share any information that would lead to the arrest of Kimeu.
