Wanyonyi endorsed Igathe during a meeting the two held at Wanyonyi’s Nairobi office.

During the same meeting, Wanyonyi pledged to hit the road to campaign for Igathe and accepted to run for the Westlands Constituency parliamentary seat on the ODM ticket.

Nairobi County Assembly leaders including the Majority Whip Peter Imwotok and Minority Whip Paul Kados attended the meeting and were later joined by the Kamukunji Member of Parliament Yussuf Hassan.

Imwatok said Wanyonyi has agreed to support Igathe’s gubernatorial bid and campaign for him from the following week.

“Wanyonyi has agreed to support Igathe's bid for the gubernatorial seat. Wanyonyi and Igathe agreed to work together and from next week, all ODM MCAs will join the Azimio campaigns and hit the ground running,” Imwatok said.

He added that they will all drop the identities of their respective parties and identify as Azimio la Umoja during the campaigns.

“We will all drop the ODM belonging or Jubilee belonging and campaign as Azimio la Umoja,” Imwatok added.

This comes after having earlier denied working with Kenya Kwanza’s Johnson Sakaja in the Nairobi gubernatorial race and asserted that he is firmly in ODM and the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition.
