Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition presidential flagbearer Raila Odinga is expected to cut short his one-week tour of the United States of America and instead return on Wednesday.

This was announced on Monday by Raila’s Presidential Campaign Press Secretary Dennis Onsarigo, who said Raila will return for the late former President Mwai Kibaki’s funeral.

Raila, who served as Prime Minister in the grand coalition government formed with Kibaki after the 2007-2008 post-election violence, left the country for Washington DC on Friday.

The ODM party leader was expected to spend a week in DC and San Francisco, where he was scheduled to meet senior US officials and representatives from top tech companies.

On Sunday, he met Kenyans living in Washington DC, where he shared his vision for Kenya should he become the fifth president, as they also shared their wish list for the future.

Other Azimio leaders in the US trip include Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua, former Civil Service head Dr Sally Kosgey, Governors Wycliffe Oparanya, Nderitu Muriithi and James Ongwae, Murang'a Woman Representative Sabina Chege, Mombasa tycoon Suleiman Shahbal and Presidential Campaign Secretariat Spokesperson Prof Makau Mutua.

Kibaki, who died from undisclosed reasons on Thursday, will receive a state burial on Friday after the conclusion of three days of public viewing at Parliament Buildings starting Monday.

President Uhuru Kenyatta announced that flags would fly at half-staff in Kenya and at all her diplomatic missions abroad added to national mourning until sunset on the day of his burial.
