President Uhuru Kenyatta and First Lady Margaret Kenyatta have led Kenyans in viewing the body and paying their last respects to the late, retired President Emilio Mwai Kibaki on Monday.
According to the schedule announced by the Interior CS Fred Matian’gi, the president was expected to arrive at the parliament buildings at 10:00 am.
Other dignitaries and Government officials were expected to arrive at the Parliament building by 9:00 am before members of the public may view the body of the late President Kibaki.
President Kibaki’s body will lie in state in parliament for the next three days before his state funeral, which will take place on Friday.
The cortege left the Lee Funeral Home at around 7: 00 am on a gun carriage, draped in a catafalque and drove through Nairobi roads for the parliament where the viewing will take place.
