The Starehe Member of Parliament, Charles Njagua has strongly protested the nomination of his opponent Simon Mbugua to vie for Starehe's parliamentary seat on a UDA ticket.

The musician-cum-politician has also rescinded the agreement he signed earlier with Mbugua. 

According to the party's National Elections Board, the two committed to accept the results of an opinion poll that was used to determine who is fit to fly the UDA flag in Starehe.

Njagua now claims the UDA party has denied Starehe residents to elect a leader of their choice after rejecting the nomination of Mbugua.

He took to his social media accounts to express his dissatisfaction with the results of the opinion poll that places Mbugua ahead of him.

“The people of Starehe were denied their democratic right to go to the ballot again for the nominations and choose their leader. The party decided to carry out opinion polls to decide whom to award the nomination certificate and it has been done,” Njagua wrote.

He also wondered if the video that emerged online with someone showcasing certificates with names of various aspirants already written on them long before the UDA primaries.

“Could this be an outcome of certificates that started making rounds before nominations? Is democracy at stake here?” Njagua posed.

Njagua said he will therefore hold discussions with his supporters in his constituency and chart a way forward.

“I will be holding discussions with the people of Starehe and decide on the way forward,” he said.
