Comedian MC Jessy has declined a job offer by Deputy President William Ruto after he pushed him to relinquish his bid for the Imenti South Parliamentary seat on a UDA ticket.

MC Jessy, real name Jasper Muthomi, on Monday announced that he will be vying for same seat as an independent candidate and not take up Ruto’s presidential campaign job offer.

The former Churchill Show host last week dropped out of the parliamentary race in favour of his rival Mwiti Kathaara after the DP announced he had brokered a deal between them.

"MC Jessy will join the presidential campaign team after postponing his parliamentary bid in favour of Mwiti Kathaara for the South Imenti Seat,” announced Ruto last Wednesday.

In his announcement on Monday, Jessy said he was determined to be on the ballot in the August 9 election after ditching Ruto’s UDA party, the key player in Kenya Kwanza Alliance.

"Sent like an arrow from a mighty man’s hand. We keep going. Bado Tuko kwa race (We are still in the race). Let’s do this South Imenti, 9th August it is," he posted on social media.

He maintained that he was still backing the DP despite giving the UDA nomination certificate to his opponent, which has seen him seek the parliamentary seat as an independent.
