The Governor for Kirinyaga County Anne Waiguru made a spectacle of herself during the signing ceremony of a coalition agreement of Kenya Kwanza affiliate parties at the Nairobi Ngong Racecourse on Tuesday.

While speaking during the ceremony, Waiguru inadvertently addressed Deputy President William Ruto as the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya alliance leader.

“Your Excellency, the Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya and the Party Leader of UDA and the leader of the Azimio group, alliance…,” Waiguru said.

Upon realising her mistake, Waiguru quickly recanted her speech to do damage control amid laughter from the attendants of the ceremony.

“Sorry, oh my goodness! And the leader of Kenya Kwanza Alliance, my sincere apologies, because I was thinking what I’ll say about them,” Waiguru.

She proceeded to welcome all the parties that joined the Kenya Kwanza alliance.

Waiguru also affirmed her support for the Kenya Kwanza presidential candidate and expressed her confidence in the faction winning the August elections by a large margin.

“We support you. We stand with you. We have every confidence that Kenya will have the best president ever come August 9 2022…this year, we have absolutely no doubt that we will win. Because we have the numbers. We will win with a huge margin,” Waiguru said.

Eight political parties including Chama Cha Kazi (CCK), Tujibebe Wakenya Party, The Service Party (TSP), Devolution Party of Kenya (DPK), Farmers Party, Economic Freedom Party (EFP), Umoja Maendeleo Party, Communist Party of Kenya (CPK) signed an agreement to join Kenya Kwanza coalition during the event.
