Garissa Woman Representative Anab Subow Gure is in trouble for posting photos on social media in which she is seen posing near a flag of Somalia and a portrait of president Mohamed Farmaajo.

Gure posted on her Twitter account that her security detail had been withdrawn and that a high contingent of police officers were allegedly stationed around her house since she posted the picture.

“My security detail has been withdrawn today and recalled back under unclear conditions. A contingent of police officers have also been seen in & around my estate the better part of today,” she posted on Twitter.

But she MP remained defiant, “Even if you withdraw my security, I have Allah The Almighty to protect me against any harm.”

A section of Kenyans rebuked the Garissa Woman Rep immediately she posted the controversial photo, with many questioning her patriotism to Kenya.

“I cannot be intimidated nor coerced by anybody. I am available and can be summoned at anytime of the week but not intimidations and arm-twisting. We’re not in a police state. Kenya is a sovereign country.”

Gure, an ally of Deputy President William Ruto, claims she was being targeted politically, a position that was backed by her fellow Jubilee Party Tangatanga wing colleague, Kandara MP Alice Wahome.

The Garissa Woman Rep once in September 2019 caused excitement and left many Kenyans in awe after she vowed she would name her unborn child after Deputy President William Ruto, whom she said she admired.

This comes days after President Farmaajo announced Somalia was ceasing diplomatic relations with Kenya and kicked out Kenyan diplomats stationed from Mogadishu as the diplomatic tiff gets uglier.

Somalia accused Kenya of interfering with her sovereignty and internal affairs ahead of a presidential election and went further to increase her military presence at her border with Kenya.

As the diplomatic row with Somalia got hotter and uglier, President Uhuru Kenyatta hosted Somaliland president Musa Bihi Abdi in Nairobi and discussed forging diplomatic relations.
