Detectives have arrested a notorious fraudster who is reported to have defrauded a car seller of Sh150,000 through a popular online site, while posing as a white woman.

Bob Nyongesa, while posing as Ryan Britney who hails from Narok, is said to have called Ali expressing intention to purchase a luxurious Mercedes Benz at a cost of Sh1.4 million.

Nyongesa reportedly requested more photos of the car on www.Jiji.co.ke, before he could travel to Nairobi to seal the deal and Ali obliged believing he was a serious buyer.

Unknown to Ali, he was dealing with a man with a criminal past, who had done time at Kamiti and Kodiaga prisons for various fraudulent cases before he was later released.

However, on the day they were to meet to finalise the car sale the jailbird, still posing as a white woman, informed Ali that he had allegedly been involved in a serious road accident.

He claimed that, while en route to Nairobi from Narok, his vehicle had hit several cows and goats belonging to Maasai herdsmen, who wielded machetes threatening to lynch him if he did not compensate them with Sh150,000.

He sent Ali photos of livestock carcasses strewn on a road alongside her supposed damaged car and asked him to send the cash promising to refund as soon as she accessed her bank in Nairobi as she made payments for the vehicle.

As soon as the car seller sent the alleged Britney the Sh150,000 he ceased all communication with him and all efforts to reach him on phone proving futile.

Ali was left flabbergasted when he learnt on Saturday that he had been dealing with one Bob Nyongesa, a serial fraudster and jailbird who has a long ugly criminal record.

Nyongesa was arrested at Ongata Rongai, Kajiado County by detectives based at DCI Langata, who retrieved several SIM cards, Laptops and mobile phones used in the fraud.

The suspect is being detained at Langata police station and will be arraigned Monday morning, as police appealing to members of the public who have been conned by him to record statements at DCI Langata offices.
