Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua has finally offered an olive branch to Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka calling for an end to their years of political hostilities.

Dr Mutua appealed to Kalonzo to put their personal differences aside for the sake of the Azimio La Umoja coalition and to ensure Raila Odinga becomes the next president.

The Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader noted that there was need for them to work together and put all their focus on Raila's campaigns to become the 5th president of Kenya.

He said he is ready to bury his differences with Kalonzo for the sake of Raila's presidency, speaking after declaring that he is firmly in the Azimio La Umoja and not defecting.

"Let us work together, strategise together and even campaign together because that is the only way we can win. I am ready for a Handshake so that we can forge forward and secure Raila's presidency," he said.

Dr Mutua spoke after meeting his party's National Governing Council at the Convent International Hotel in Lavington, Nairobi.

The two were once bosom buddies under the Grand Coalition government but they fell out after the 2013 election with Mutua ditching Kalonzo’s Wiper to form Maendeleo Chap Chap.

On exiting, the Machakos Governor accused Wiper of discrimination and unequal opportunities, a move that did not sit well with Kalonzo who called Mutua a betrayer.

They have not been seeing eye to eye since and recently Mutua joined other Ukambani governors Charity Ngilu and Kivutha Kibwana in bashing Kalonzo for his hesitance to back Raila before the Wiper leader finally came out and declared he would back Raila’s bid.
