Azimio La Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga on Monday announced the appointment of Raphael Tuju as the Executive Director of the Azimio Secretariat.

Raila, in a statement shared by his aide Dennis Onyango, said Tuju had accepted the appointment and would commence the duties of his new office with immediate effect.

Tuju, who is a trained communication specialist, formerly served as Member of Parliament for Rarieda, a Cabinet Minister and recently as the Jubilee Party Secretary General.

The Azimio Coalition party brings together more than 20 political parties from diverse backgrounds with representation from across the 47 counties in Kenya.

As Executive Director, he will coordinate all Azimio member parties and will lead the strategic and program teams that will work to ensure victory in the August election.

During the recent Jubilee Party National Delegates Convention, Tuju announced he had relinquished his post, with party leaders calling for him to be rewarded with other roles.
