Police in Busia are looking for a man who killed his neighbour using a catapult in Kakemer location, Busia county on Monday evening.

The deceased had a domestic brawl with his 53-year-old wife and was battering her before she found a leeway and escaped into neighbour Robert Amakule’s house to seek refuge.

The deceased identified as Fabian Omanyala relentlessly pursued his wife to Amakule’s house to continue raining blows and kicks on his wife.

On realising that Omanyala was fast approaching with rage, Amakule decided to aid the woman and fished out his catapult and launched a projectile from it that hit Omanyala squarely on the forehead, sending him sprawling on the floor.

Efforts to get him emergency help at the nearby Korosiendet dispensary proved futile as he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Following the tragic developments, Amakule immediately went into hiding and police based in Teso have launched a widespread manhunt for the suspect to face charges over the death.

Police could not immediately establish exactly what object Amakule launched from his catapult.
