The Governor for Nakuru County Lee Kinyanjui has intimated that he will defend his seat on a Jubilee party ticket.

Lee took to his social media accounts on Friday to make the announcement.

The governor who recently formed and heads Ubuntu Peoples Forum (UPF) party cited the consolidation of Azimio la Umoja support base as his reason for making that political move.

“To consolidate the Azimio Coalition support base and lead the campaign team in the region, a decision has been arrived that I defend my Governor seat on a Jubilee Party ticket,” Lee said.

Lee revealed he arrived at the decision to defend his seat on a Jubilee party ticket after full consultation with UPF leadership and members.

“I therefore wish to state that I will defend my seat as Nakuru Governor on Jubilee ticket. This decision has been made in full consultation with top leadership and members of the Ubuntu Peoples Forum-UPF party,” he said.

However, Lee said that in the meantime UPF party will field and support its candidates in respective positions in line with its mandate.

He revealed that they have reports of other opponents willing to sponsor candidates at various parties to split the Azimio Movement’s support base.

“We are deeply aware of attempts by the opponents to sponsor candidates in various parties with a view to split our support base,” Lee added.

“Consequently, we shall be unveiling the candidates under Azimio after the nominations and will strive to have only one candidate for each seat from MP to governor.”

Lee acknowledged that the decision is inconvenient for some of their supporters and opponents as he apologised for any inconveniences or disappointments.
