A Nairobi court has issued a warrant of arrest for the Ndichu twin brothers, Paul and Eddie Ndichu.

The warrant was issued after the twins failed to appear before the court to answer to assault charges in their case that involved the Murgor sisters; Stephanie Murgor and Cheryl Murgor.

Kibera Law Courts Chief Magistrate Anne Mwangi issued the order on Wednesday.

“Since the accused person is not in court despite a court order I, therefore, issue a warrant of arrest against them,” the Magistrate ruled.

Paul and Eddie would have appeared before the court and faced assault and damage to property charges.

However, Ndichu’s lawyer said his client Eddie tested positive for Coronavirus on March 12, 2022, and his twin Paul was placed in isolation after exhibiting symptoms of Covid-19.

“The accused person tested positive on March 12 and is in quarantine together with the second accused person who has shown some symptoms related to Covid. We expect them to finish the quarantine on March 26,” the lawyer told the court.

This is the third time Paul is failing to appear before the court, while it is the fourth time for Eddie.

Paul has already been charged with assaulting 5 individuals and causing malicious damage to property.

He denied the charges and was released on a Sh100,000 cash bail or bond.

However, his brother Eddie is yet to take a plea.

The lawyer holding the brief for the Ndichu brothers' lawyer asked for a further mention date since the twins’ lawyer Njenga Nyenge was held up at the High Court by a different matter.

The prosecution also countered the request and asked that the file be placed aside until Njenga finished his with the matter at the High Court, but the twins’ defence still insisted on a later mention date.

The magistrate issued a warrant of arrest for each of the Ndichu brothers for failing to appear in court on Thursday as ordered.

Mwangi also directed that the matter be heard on May 3, 2022.
