The National Police Service has said it will enhance security during the April festive season in conjunction with its partners within the multi-agency framework.

This is because of the high-level activities that happen during the season which pose security threats to citizens.

NPS issued a statement on Tuesday saying activities that will take place during the month of April compound the demand for enhanced security services.

The activities include religious events such as Ramadan and Easter Holidays. The African Rally Championship will also be held in Naivasha in the same month.

“These high-level activities also, unfortunately, present opportunities to a few criminal elements to plot disruptive activities that may harm the smooth running of organised events and activities,” NPS said.

According to NPS, they have taken adequate measures to provide security in all public spaces.

Special arrangements have been made to secure major urban areas, including all critical infrastructure and places of interest. The security agencies have also enhanced their surveillance and intelligence capabilities against suspicious individuals and organised gangs.

NPS urged the members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious persons or activities through the police hotline or through the toll-free ‘Fichua kwa DCI’ number.

“In the spirit of community policing partnership, the National Police Service appeals to members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or persons to the nearest police officer, police station or through our hotline: 999,112, #FichuaKwaDCI or DCI toll-free number 0800 722 203,” NPS advised.
