Will Smith has offered an apology for his behaviour namely, slapping Chris Rock during the 94th Academy Awards.

Smith took to his social media accounts to offer an apology to Chris admitting that he was out of line, wrong for slapping him and was embarrassed by his actions.

"I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness," Will wrote.

Smith acknowledged his behaviour was unacceptable and inexcusable.

He noted that jokes at his expense are part of his job, but he got overwhelmed by the one Chris made about his wife Jada Pinkett's medical condition.

"My behaviour at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally," Smith wrote.

Smith also apologised to the Academy, producers of the show, attendees and everyone who watched the incident.

He also expressed his regret that his actions soiled what would have been a delightful journey to his family and his acquired King Richard family.

"I would like to apologize to the Williams Family and my King Richard Family. I deeply regret that my behavior has stained what has been an otherwise gorgeous journey for all of us," he said.

Smith slapped comedian Chris Rock for making a joke about Jada's baldness, which was caused by a medical condition called Alopecia.
