Bruce Magata of Gilgil Hill Academy has emerged as the top candidate for the 2021 Kenya Certificate of Education (KCPE) results.

Magata emerged as the top candidate after getting 428 marks.

Education CS George Magoha announced the KCPE results on Monday at Mtihani House, Nairobi.

Magata was followed by Arshley Momanyi Kerobu of Makini School with 427 marks.

6 pupils namely Charity Buyanzi, Mbugua Wairimu, Stanley Omondi, Naomi Wekesa, Shantel Muteti and Ithan Kimani all came in third with 426 marks.

The 6 pupils were closely followed by another group of 5 pupils who scored 425 marks.

The overall performance improved in the 2021 KCPE results, but the highest marks were reduced from 2020's 433 marks to 428 marks.

While announcing the results, Magoha commended the Ministry of Education for their best in ensuring the exams were seamless.

Magoha dismissed claims that the examinations leaked and warned those people who thought the exams would leak.

"This examination did not leak, for those who were waiting for it to leak, you are mistaken... I want to warn you that I have the choice to remain a CS until tomorrow, if you choose to put the career online, we will punish children, parents and teachers," Magoha said.

Magoha warned of dire consequences that will befall unscrupulous individuals who take money from children and lie to them they will give them exam leakages.

"It is criminal to confuse a young star. Those who are bold and doing so taking money from these people must be prepared to face the consequences that are coming," the CS said.

The Education CS gave himself a pat on the back for being the longest-serving cabinet secretary in the Ministry of Education under the Jubilee administration.

"I am proud and humbled to have served as the longest CS in education ministry under Jubilee administration," he said.

"A regime that has seen a more flawless release of exams and has restored the credibility in our examinations."

The CS expressed his pride in his track record and maintained confidence that his successors will find a comfortable place.

Also present during the announcement was the CEO of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) Nancy Macharia who said teachers who were involved in exams carried themselves in a professional manner.

"All teachers who were involved in exams conducted themselves professionally," Macharia said.

Macharia also said the results were a testimony that teachers are pursuing credibility.

"This is testimony that our teachers are pursuing credibility. We are here to celebrate the 1.2m who will be joining Form One," she added.
